Louise Hart

Louise was the sister of Eveline Hart (the wife of Rabbi Rintel of Bourke Street Synagogue) and married Samuel De Beer (photographed between 1870-74). See collection of Nancy Keesing.

Ruby Rich, herself a talented pianist, who was not permitted to earn her living as a musician was the founder of the Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and worked for women's rights.

Bertha Porush and Hemda Patkin
Bertha Porush (second from right) with three friends. Billie Einfeld, wife of the late Syd Einfeld is on the left. Bertha Porush is the widow of Rabbi Israel Porush, who was Chief Minister of the Great Synagogue, Sydney from 1942-1972. She has lived in Jerusalem since 1999.

She is shown with Hemda Patkin in 1995, when she was 91. At age 96 she made alia to Jerusalem, and now has died in early June 2009 at the age of 105. May her memory be a blessing.
